Mayor and City Council

Broomfield was founded in 1877 as a small farming community known as Zang's Spur. In the early 1900s the town's name was changed to Broomfield to reflect the fields of broom corn grown in the area. Broomfield was incorporated in 1961 and made Colorado history, becoming Colorado's 64th county, the first to be added to the state in nearly 100 years. Today, the Broomfield real estate area is home to more than 42,000 people.
